Finally: Man City to pay £49m for Liverpool's Raheem Sterling. See How Deal Was Done On Sunday

Image
Raheem Sterling 20 is set to become both the most expensive Englishman and City's record signing, beating Carlos Tevez's £47m fee in 2009. The England winger has been desperate to leave Anfield for months after making it clear he would not sign a new contract. Liverpool had put a £50m valuation on his head and Brendan Rodgers will be delighted to have got extremely close to that mark.  City had two previous bids worth £30m and £40m rejected but the third one has got the job done. Manuel Pellegrini will pay £44m up front with another £5m in add ons.

EXCLUSIVE: Two Reason Why Pogba's Deal may Not Happen

Pogba's move to eighter of the two Manchester Clubs is on hold because of an Image Right problem . It has also become clear that the France midfielder would have to ask Juventus for a transfer if he is to leave Italy's champions. City's  move for the former Manchester United trainee is on hold - but it is not dead. The proposed deal has become complicated, though, by a former representative still having a stake in Pogba's image rights. City want total control of that situation, arguing they are entitled to that if they are paying a transfer fee of £80million and wages to Pogba, 22, of £250,000 a week. It has been revealed a month ago that the total package involved in signing Pogba on a five-year contract - including a £10m signing-on fee - would amount to a massive £155m. In many respects, however, the ball is in Pogba's court, as Juve say he will have to push for a move if he wants to leave Turin. The Old Lady's chief executive officer Giuse

ROBIN VAN PERSIE is quitting Manchester United for Fenerbahce                                              because he feels betrayed by Louis van Gaal. The Dutch pair were close mates and just 12 months ago they were high-fiving at the World Cup in Brazil. It's believed Van Persie's influence even helped Van Gaal get the Old Trafford job. But now the striker, 31 is leaving because he feels he's been humiliated, according to the  Mirror . It's claimed a full-scale practice match was held at Carrington on Tuesday in which all the  United  players played in. Except Van Persie. He was told to train on his own. Van Persie, who believed he had a United future, felt Van Gaal rubbed salt in the wounds by delivering the bombshell in front of team-mates rather than telling him one-to-one. It was then the Holland star realised his time was up. The hitman then told his agent to accept a big-money offer from Fenerbahce. He will
