OJB’s wife, June Ama Pays Tribute To Him

                                   June Ama Okungbowa, one of the wives of late Veteran Nigerian musician and producer, Babatunde Okungbowa aka OJB Jezreel, paid a touching tribute to him and shared some of his photos via Facebook today. African Senior Athletics Championship: Stephen Mozia Wins Team Nigeria’s 1st Medal In Shot-Put

American-born  Nigeria shot-put thrower, Stephen Mozia has won Team Nigeria’s first medal (bronze medal) at the ongoing African Senior Athletics Championship on day one, after throwing a distance of 19.84m to finish behind the duo of‎ Jacob Engelbrecht (South Africa)and Franck Elemba (Democratic Republic of Congo) respectively. South African Engelbrecht won gold with a throw of 20.00m, while Elemba from DR Congo snatched silver with his throw of 19.89m. Another Nigerian Ogheneakpobo Efekoro finished 4th with a distance of 19.57m. 22-year-old Mozia was making his 2nd appearance at the competition having won bronze two years ago and has now increased his medals’ haul to two from two editions. In the 100m event for women, Nigerian runner Gloria Asunmu‎ is through to the final while there is no Team Nigerian representation in the men’s 100m as both Obinna Metu and Ogho-oghene Egwero did not make the trip to Durban after making the initial list.

Ikorodu United Football Club have confirmed the parting of ways by mutual consent with Sam Okpodu on 13th of June 2016. The Clu b and Manager agree the timing is right to bring the relationship to an end. The Board of Directors thank Sam Okpodu for all his hard work and wish him all the best in his future endeavours. The Club further announced the immediate replacement by Theo De Jong. Theodorus ("Theo") Jacob de Jong (born 11 August 1947 in Leeuwarden) is a former Dutch international footballer. During his career he played for NEC Nijmegen and Feyenoord Rotterdam. He earned 15 caps and scored 3 goals for the Netherlands national football team, and was a member of the Dutch squad that in the 1974 FIFA World Cup Final. De Jong was a member of the Feyenoord team that won the UEFA Cup in 1974, beating Tottenham Hotspur in the then two-legged final. He later played 3 seasons in Hong Kong for Seiko.

41 Nigerians Deported From The US Yesterday

41 Nigerian men were deported from the United States for drug, police and immigration related offences today June 22nd. The deportees landed Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos at about 12pm on a chartered aircraft operated by Miami Air International. Nine of them were deported on drug related offences, 26 for police offences while six had immigration related problems.

Henderson, 21, Broke Down As He Paid Heartfelt Tribute To His Mother Who Shielded Him During The Orlando Massacre

Brenda Lee Marquez-McCool was dancing with her son Isaiah Henderson at Pulse nightclub when shots rang out over the blaring music. Instead of running away, she threw herself on her son, shielding him from shooter Omar Mateen. She died protecting her son, pictured in the middle crying. McCoo, 49, was a  two-time cancer survivor. Her sister-in-law Ada Pressley told the New York Daily News that McCool saw gunman Omar turn his assault rifle at her and her son and said: “Get down,’ to Isaiah and she got in front of him,”. She was shot dead. That’s how much she loved her kids. If it weren’t for her, he’d have been shot.”

The first son of late Nigeria captain and head coach Stephen Keshi has expressed surprise that people have been putting a date forward for his father’s burial rites without the knowledge and consent of his children. Stephen Keshi Jnr, 27, arrived at the NFF Secretariat on Wednesday morning and met with the General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi. He was in company with US-based chemist and friend of late Keshi, Victor Ugoh, and former Super Eagles star Obinna Nsofor.  “I just came into Nigeria on Tuesday night, and we read in the papers today that somebody has fixed a date for the burial,” Keshi Jnr was quoted in an NFF release made available to Completesportsnigeria.com. “I’m shocked like my sisters and my brothers. Since our father died, nobody has spoken to us about how he died, and we have not even seen his corpse.
