Ikorodu United FC unveiled in Lagos on Thursday, 28 January 2016 Video entertainment company, GOtv, on Monday, was unveiled as the shirt sponsor of Glo Premier League newcomers, Ikorodu United Football Club. The shirt sponsorship package was unveiled at the formal launch event of the club at the Ikorodu Town Hall. In a rather amazing fashion, Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Jonathan has made history with another international award in Atlanta, USA. This is coming on the heels of local and international recognition which has come his way since he conceded defeat to President Muhammadu Buhari after losing at the 2015 presidential election. The former president on Thursday, January 14, 2016, added to his growing list of international awards after being honoured by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), in Atlanta, Georgia.

                       Adebayor, 31, signs as a free agent until the end of the season  Emmanuel Adebayor has returned to the Premier League after signing a contract with Crystal Palace initially until the end of next season, ending the Togolese forward’s five-month exile from the game. The striker, who has scored 96 goals in 230 league games, has been without a club since September when his deal with Tottenham Hotspur was terminated by mutual consent. While the player became a free agent, Spurs have effectively been paying his £100,000-a-week wages as per their original contract with the 31-year-old, with that arrangement due to run through to the end of June. Adebayor had attracted interest from clubs in China, Turkey and the Gulf, as well as Watford, and said the chance to live and play again in London was a big part of his decision to sign up with the Eagles. FC Barcelona Star Midfielder Javier Mascherano Sentenced To One Year Imprisonment For Tax Evasion

Javier Mascherano has been sentenced to a year in prison but is unlikely to ever serve time in jail, after a verdict was reached in his tax evasion case. The Argentine has been fined €815,000 and handed a year's sentence for two counts of fiscal crimes committed in 2011 and 2012. Mascherano has previously admitted to the offences, repaid the money owed and paid a hefty fine as recompense. After such compliance with the investigation, the court is expected to grant the wish of Mascherano and his lawyer, David Aineto, in suspending the custodial sentence in exchange for a further fine.

British Singer and Actor David Bowie Dies of Cancer Aged 69

David Robert Jones  (8 January 1947 – 10 January 2016), known professionally as  David Bowie  was an English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, arranger, painter and actor. He was a figure in popular music for over five decades, and was considered by critics and other musicians as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. His  androgynous  appearance was an iconic element of his image, principally in the 1970s and 1980s. David died of cancer on the 10th of January 2016 A statement was issued  on his social media accounts, saying he "died peacefully, surrounded by his family" after an "18-month battle with cancer". Tributes have been paid from around the world to the "extraordinary artist" whose last album was released days ago.
