CR7 Make's History: Wins Euirope Golden Shoe For The Fourth Time

Image
Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo won Europe’s Golden Shoe yesterday, which recognizes the top scorer across the continent’s top five leagues. It’s the fourth time he’s won the award, and it comes after last season, when he scored 48 goals in 35 La Liga games. No one else in the history of the award has won it four times. Ronaldo said he wants to win it twice more. The Portuguese forward is 30, coming off his best domestic campaign ever, and is seemingly indestructible, and so there’s really no reason why he won’t.

David De Gea Remains A Manchester United Player. Read Why

Image
The amount spent by Barclays Premier League clubs during the summer window passed £800million on the final day of trading, but most of the talk centred around two deals that did not happen. De Gea's long-anticipated £29million move from Manchester United to Real Madrid collapsed on Monday night and both clubs appeared at odds over who was to blame. West Brom striker Berahino, meanwhile, hit out after the Baggies blocked Tottenham's attempts to sign him. Berahino appeared to threaten never to play for the club again after two deadline-day bids from Spurs were rejected. De Gea remained at Old Trafford after the paperwork for his switch to the Bernabeu, which would have included Keylor Navas moving in the opposite direction, was not submitted before Spain's deadline of 11pm Monday. Real issued a strong statement defending their conduct, insisting they did "everything necessary" to implement the move. That came after United

Football Transfer Casualties: Berahino Swears Never To Play For West Brom Again As Spurs Bead Was Rejected

Image
Mauricio Pochettino was left without the recognised striker he craved when Tottenham Hotspur’s efforts to prise Saido Berahino from West Bromwich Albion on transfer deadline day failed amid drama and anger. Spurs had already had offers worth £18m and £22m for Berahino turned down, and it emerged that one of the packages had been structured around payments of £3.5m each year for five years, which had served to infuriate West Brom and their chairman, Jeremy Peace.                                                                        At 5pm, with the positions entrenched and emotions swirling, Berahino had taken to Twitter to suggest he did not intend to play again for Peace’s club. “Sad how i cant say exactly how the club has treated me but i can officially say i will never play Jeremy Peace,” Berahino wrote.

Chamberlain Oguchi scored 19 points and was voted the Most Valuable Player of the tournament and was also named in the team of the tournament alongside teammate, Al-Farouq Aminu. Captain of the team, Olumide Oyedeji, had said the team was the most talented of the teams that came to Tunisia and that claim was justified even though one of their best players, Ike Diogu, did not play a single minute of the competition because of a twisted ankle. Oluchi, the MVP, said: “It’s the best moment of my life, to be able to come here after missing the last AfroBasket, to be able to come here and do this with my brothers, it feels amazing. “I’m happy to be able to share this moment with them and for me personally, it’s just really gre

BBC Report: Has Barcelona Done The Imposible by Letting Neymar Join an Irish Club Limerick FC?

Image
On first glance it looks like Limerick have pulled off the transfer of the century and signed Barcelona striker Neymar.  But on closer inspection, it turns out the Barcelona striker has not swapped La Liga for the League of Ireland.  It is in fact 16-year-old Barry Cotter, who bears an uncanny resemblance to the Brazil World Cup star.  While Neymar will line up in the Champions League, former Avenue United and Ennis Town forward Cotter will play in the under-17 National League after signing for Limerick.     But he shares his doppelganger's confidence telling the club website: "I'm looking to score at least one or two goals in each game for the rest of the season."

European Champions League Draw: Pundits Predicts Chances Of EPL Clubs

Image
Arsenal are probably the biggest losers following the Champions League group stage draw – after landing Bayern Munich. Manchester City also face a tough task to qualify but Manchester United and Chelsea will be delighted with how the balls were pulled out. Overall, it must be said that all the English clubs will expect to qualify for the next round. The Gunners were handed a tricky draw in group F against European giants Bayern Munich as well as Greece’s Olympiacos and Dinamo Zagreb. Man United drew arguably the best top seed in PSV Eindhoven in a fixture that will see Memphis Depay return against his former club in group B. They also face an awkward trip to Russia to face CSKA Moscow and a trick tie against Wolfsburg. Chelsea will be satisfied with their opponents in group G as they landed Porto, Dynamo Kyiv and Maccabi Tel-aviv. City will face last season’s finalists Juventus in group D along with Europa League winners Sevilla. The new draw system saw the

Why Okagbare Did Not Appear For The Women's 200M Race World Athletics Championship in Beijing

Image
A hamstring injury prevented Nigerian sprint queen, Blessing Okagbare from competing at the women’s 200m race at the World Athletics Championship in Beijing. After a disappointing last finish at the finals of the women’s 100m, all hopes of a medal for Blessing in Beijing were hinged on the 200m. Okagbare, who was listed in the startlist of Heat 3, was however missing for the race. The Athletics Federation of Nigeria ( AFN ) has released a statement revealing that she was injured during the pre-race warm-up. “ A hamstring injury during warm up on Wednesday prevented Blessing Okagbare from participating in the heats of the 200m ,” the statement read. “ Okagbare, who went for surgery shortly before the All Nigeria Athletics Championships held in Warri, Delta State, was certified fit for the World Championships. American Marines Who Thwarted Paris Train Attack Tells Their Story

Stone, Skarlatos and Sadler were traveling together when they heard shattering glass and saw people running, Skarlatos' brother Peter said. Sadler, on his first trip to Europe, said they acted right away.                       "My friend Alek Skarlatos yells, 'Get him!,' so my friend Spencer Stone immediately gets up to charge the guy, followed by Alek, then myself," Sadler said. "The three of us beat up the guy," Sadler said. "In the process, Spencer gets slashed multiple times by the box cutter, and Alek takes the AK away." Usain Bolt Runs Best Ever Race To Beat Justin Gatlin To Win World 100m Title

Image
Bolt Has Now won 9 World Titles. Three Golds In The 100M, Three In 200M, Three In Sprint Relays Usain Bolt produced perhaps his greatest performance of all as he put a troubled build-up behind him to beat two-time doper and clear favourite Justin Gatlin to retain his world 100m title.  The controversial Gatlin came into the final on a 28-race unbeaten run and apparently relishing his role as the sport's bad guy. But at the same Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing where Bolt announced himself to the world with two Olympic golds and two world records in 2008, the Jamaican superstar came past a faltering Gatlin at the death to snatch victory by one hundredth of a second.  Bolt's 9.79 seconds was more than two tenths off his world record, but this was a night for athletics to celebrate victories rather than times.  Canada's Andre de Grasse and young American Trayvon Bromell were

Liverpool Manager Brendan Rogers: Balotelli You Must Leave Now

Image
If  Mario Balotelli  wants to play senior football this season then he must find leave  Liverpool ,  Brendan Rodgers  has warned. The striker has been told he is surplus to requirements at Anfield and Rodgers has insisted he will not change his mind after the controversial striker's poor first season with Liverpool. The unwanted trio of players - which also includes Fabio Borini and Jose Enrique - have been told to train with Liverpool's youth team, prompting the defender to claim last week that Rodgers has "alienated" them. But Rodgers shifted the blame right back on the players on Sunday, arguing Liverpool will not stand in the way of a transfer, telling reporters: "He [Balotelli] clearly knows his situation and where he's at. "There's nothing to add. All of the players understand where they're at.
