Seemingly uninterested, struggling, flat footed, confused............ All these are words that could be used to describe the defending champion Serena Williams as she gets ousted by a lucky Elina Svitolina of Ukraine in the women's single round of 16 at 6-4, 6-3 in a swift 72 minutes game.
“Obviously
I’m disappointed,” said Williams, who is also out of the doubles draw after she
and her sister, Venus, lost in the first round. “The better player won. It was
a great opportunity that didn’t work out the way I wanted it to. At least I was
able to make Rio, which was one of my goals. It was awesome, but it’s over
now.”
