Malaga Shocker For Barca Fans (Video Interview With Barcelona Coach Luis Enrique
Barcelona coach Luis Enrique said Saturday's shock 1-0
loss to Malaga at the Camp Nou was "deserved" and
"damaging" for his team.
Barca went into the game on a run of 11 straight wins and
with a chance to go top of La Liga for the first time since early November, but
were thwarted by a superbly-organised Malaga, who scored the winner through
forward Juanmi.
Luis Enrique told his post-match news conference:
"This result is damaging for us, although Malaga played a very good game
and set up very well.
Barcelona made seven changes to the team that thrashed
Levante 5-0 last weekend, recalling Alves, Luis Suarez, Gerard Pique and Jordi
Alba to the starting line-up and opting to rest Ivan Rakitic and Javier
Mascherano.
Malaga went into Saturday's game 21 points behind
Barcelona in the table and the result was all the more surprising as the
Catalans had previously won their last 11 games in a row in all competitions,
scoring 42 goals in the process.
Juanmi, 21, scored the only goal of the game after just
seven minutes following a glaring mistake by Dani Alves and Barcelona never
recovered, producing a sluggish display which knocks a huge dent in their title
hopes.
