Thiery Henry Has Joined The Belgian National Team To Assist Roberto Matinez
Former France International Thiery Henry has agreed to join the Belgian National Team as an Assistant Coach to Roberto Martinez.
The former Barcelona star who was the head coach of arsenal U18 side would team up with Roberto to propel the FIFA 2nd best National team to a fresh start after their dismal performance in the last European cup tournament where they where beaten 3-1 by Wales in the quarter finals.
The two must be having mutual respect for each other as Thiery Henry is expected to have positive impact on the players with his cult figure.
Henry won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000, and Martinez,
who was appointed earlier this month, feels that his experience can help
improve the mentality of the current generation of Belgian players.
He's someone that has been in the situation of having
to develop a mentality as a team to chase the dream of winning something
special," the Spaniard said.
He did that with his country back in '96 leading up to
'98.
Martinez will also be joined by Graeme Jones, his former
assistant manager at Swansea, Wigan and Everton, and said: "The contact
time that we have with the players during the season is very short so the
impact has to be as big as we can.
"My assistant Graeme Jones has worked already with some
Belgian players back in England and his experience in the league will be very
much enjoyable for the players."
