Rivers State Governor, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has promised players of the U-23 National Team the sum of $100,000 (about N24 million) if they are able to defeat Congo's U-23 side by three un-replied goals in Sunday's African U-23 Championship final round, first leg qualifier at the Adokiye Amiesieamaka Stadium in Port Harcourt. When Arsene Wenger was appointed as Arsenal manager on 1 October 1996 from Japanese club Nagoya Grampus Eight he was an unknown entity to many, but that is not the case anymore after a hugely successful tenure in Arsenal FC as the club’s longest serving manager. The Frenchman learned the trade in the early stages of his managerial career in France with spells at Strasbourg, Cannes and Nancy before earning a move to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. He won the French League Championship in 1988 before moving to Japan seven years later for an 18 month stint. Wenger quickly settled down to new life in London and guided Arsenal to their first Premier League title in the 1997/98 season.
