History of Brit Award And Winners Of the February 25th Brit Award Held At the O2 Arena London
The Brit Awards (sometimes stylized as the BRIT Awards; often simply called the Brits) are the British phonographic"s annual Pop Music awards, and the British equivalent of the American Grammy Awards.
The name was originally a shorthened form of "British", or "Britanni (in the early days the awards were sponsored by Britania Music Club), but subsequently became abackronym for British Record Industry Trusts Show.
Robbie Williams holds the record for the most Brit Awards, 12 as a solo artist and another five as part of Take That. The awards began in 1977 as part of the commemoration of the Queen's Silver Jubilee and as an annual event in 1982 under the auspices of the British record industry's trade association, the BPI. The last BPI Awards show was the first of the ceremonies to be broadcast on television, by the BBC, and in 1989 they were renamed the Brit Awards.

After carting away 4 Grammy Award this year, last year’s
Critics’ Choice Award winner Sam Smith has won the British Breakthrough Act at
The BRIT Awards 2015.
The winner of the British Breakthrough Act is selected
following a public vote promoted by BRITs.co.uk and BBC Radio 1. Smith beat
stiff competition from Chvrches, FKA twigs, George Ezra, and Royal Blood.
Smith’s debut album ‘In The Lonely Hour’ was released in May
2014 and went straight to No. 1 on the UK Album Chart. He has also had two
further No. 1s with singles ‘Stay With Me’ and ‘Money On My Mind’.
Sam Smith will also perform his single ‘Lay Me Down’ live at
this year’s BRIT Awards.
